The USS Missouri (BB-63) was a United States Navy Iowa-class battleship that played a significant role in World War II and later conflicts.

USS Missouri was laid down on January 6, 1941, at the New York Naval Shipyard and launched on January 29, 1944. The ship was commissioned on June 11, 1944, with Captain William M. Callaghan in command.

The battleship had a length of approximately 887 feet (270 meters) and a displacement of around 45,000 tons. Its main armament included nine 16-inch (406 mm) guns arranged in three turrets, and it had a powerful secondary armament of 5-inch (127 mm) guns and numerous anti-aircraft guns.

USS Missouri entered service during the later stages of World War II. It participated in several important operations, including the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa. One of the most extraordinary moments in the ship's history occurred on September 2, 1945, when the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on the deck of the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, officially marking the end of World War II.

After World War II, USS Missouri underwent modernization and served in various capacities, including during the Korean War. It was decommissioned in 1955 but was reactivated in the 1980s as part of President Ronald Reagan's plan to build up the U.S. Navy.

USS Missouri saw action during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, firing its 16-inch guns in support of coalition forces.

The USS Missouri was decommissioned for the final time in 1992. Today, the USS Missouri is preserved as a museum ship at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii, providing visitors with a glimpse into its storied history, including its role in World War II and the signing of the Japanese surrender.
